Authentic in the City

Are you living your most authentic life?

Are you presenting the real you to everyone?

Brene Brown defines authenticity as the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.

Choosing authenticity means….

  1. Cultivating courage to be imperfect, to set boundaries, and to allow yourself to be vulnerable.
  2. Exercising the compassion that comes from knowing that you are made of strength and struggle.
  3. Nurturing the connection and sense of belonging that can only happen when you believe that you are enough.

It takes SERIOUS courage to be authentic and real in a world that wants you to be everything but you. It’s scary to show your true colors to the world and to step outside your comfort zone.

Trying to mold to what society deems acceptable is bloody hard people! Trust me, I know!

Society DOES NOT own you! Take back your life and be you! Be you in all of your glory! Be imperfectly perfect!

I feel E.E. Cummings says it best….

To be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody but yourself – means to fight the hardest battle which any human needs being can fight – and never stop fighting.
