Have you ever witnessed an act of kindness or compassion that brought you to tears? This lady had that impact on me. It was the first snowfall of the year and I decided to brave the holiday crowds and do some shopping. As I pulled up to an intersection near the mall, I saw about 7 people holding signs at all four corners of the intersection. Keep in mind its snowing, wet, and freezing outside. As I get closer, I notice every single sign says the same thing: You Matter.
My heart exploded! I was speechless! I wanted to pull over and hug every single person.
In a season where suicide rates are high, these beautiful souls were telling people they mattered. They didn’t care that it was snowing and cold outside. All they cared about was making sure we all knew we mattered. I still have to fight back tears as I type this.
If you find yourself feeling hopeless and are having suicidal thoughts, I urge you to reach out for help. Call a trusted friend or family member. If you feel you do not have someone to reach out to for help, please call the suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
You matter!
