Are you a chronic worrier?
If you live with chronic anxiety, please know you are not alone. Millions of people struggle with excessive worry and anxiety symptoms. All human beings worry. We all experience unrealistic thoughts, and at some point in our lives, we have all acted as fortune tellers predicting doom in our lives.
So what does it mean to worry? Worries are thoughts and images that suggest something bad might happen in the future. Predictions based on what would be terrible if it did happen. What if I get cancer? What if I am single forever? What if the plane crashes? What if I get fired? Worries are hypothetical concerns over something that probably won’t happen. When the worry bug bites, remember, you can’t predict your future and you can’t prove that nothing bad will ever happen.
If you struggle with worry, please know, you don’t have trouble solving your worry because you’re too weak, too nervous, or too defective. You have trouble solving it because you get tricked into trying to solve it with methods that can only make the problem more severe and chronic. The goal is to identify your worries and shrink the role worry plays in your life.
